It is soso cold right now, but at least the rain has stopped. And while we are still in the middle of Winter, my walks around my neighbourhood have revealed budding magnolias and blossoms and bobbing roses. I don't think I have ever seen so much pink is such a short period of time...and for those who know me in real life, well, I'm hardly the first person you'd suspect of having such an overhaul of pink. =P

After photographing nothing but people for a couple of weeks, it feels good to go back to my photographic roots, when I first started with macro water droplets and flowers from my garden. All cropped square, of course. 

It was wet and cold and our breaths fogged the air. Poor Steph had to freeze in a skirt and the bottom six inches of my jeans were drenched. Afterwards we sat in a cosy cafe sipping hot chai lattes and watching the rain.

This shoot on Friday was only the second time I've ever worked with someone who wasn't someone I already knew and was friends with, and I was accordingly nervous as hell. It didn't really help that I was trying out an unfamiliar location, and so we spent about an hour just wandering around the streets of Wahroonga searching for somewhere promising. The majority of these were taken in Wahroonga Park amidst small children on their playdates and teenagers daring each other to photobomb (all boys, of course =P). 

But this girl, Joanna. I cannot even. She is just so very gorgeous, and anyone who has ever dabbled with retouching will know how much of a godsend it is when the model has lovely skin. The minimal amount of skin retouching I had to do was what lead me to naming this blog post the Latin for without wax, or 'sincere' to what was already there. I'll just leave it to the photos to convey how wonderful she is in front of the camera.

Last Wednesday was just about as full a day as I've ever had. I woke after four hours of sleep to perpetual drizzle and dashed off with my family to the service centre, first in line, for a replacement car part that they didn't have. It was onto Ashfield for some shopping and visiting of family friends, followed by gobbling down McDonald's (something I haven't had for a good two years) near my university before dashing to meet two lovely girls for a shoot in the afternoon.

When in doubt, I find myself retreating to the tranquillity of the Royal Botanical Gardens. It was lovely even in the rain with roses and blossoms draped by tiny spiderwebs and diamonds. Unfortunately the shoot itself was much shorter than anticipated - the girls had to leave before we could make the most of the afternoon light that had finally broken through the clouds, and time was wasted waiting for the rain to ease.
